For both job seekers and recruiters, Professional Associations represent opportunity.
Opportunity to network with peers, better your knowledge and become part of your industry are just a few of the perks.
For recruiters they are an under-utilized method for finding qualifed, targeted professionals.
I mentioned a few ways of locating associations (there are 86,000 of them) in the past but here are some other tactical tips for locating the ones in your field.
1. Do a Google search for the "job title" and the word "association"
2. Check out the Weddles guide to Association websites
3. Visit the association for associations...ASAE > People & Groups > Directories
4. Vist AssociationJobBoards.com

How about joining the association before you are a "job hunter" (at least, an unemployed job hunter)? Doesn't it make sense to... Dig Your Well Before Your Thirsty?
I've heard a lot of comments in the last few months about networking events that are filled with unemployed people... I know these associations are filled with employed folks, which is great. But it makes sense to begin to develop "intimate relationships" before you need them.
