I came across this little tidbit from a CareerBuilder survey about the biggest differences between the two generations. The survey results reveal major differences in the way Generation Y, Generation X and baby boom employees communicate. Almost half of respondents (49 percent) noted Generation Y's preference to communicate through technology (blogs, instant messaging and text messaging, for example), as opposed to having face-to-face or phone conversations, the preferred methods of baby boomers and Generation X.
I would also add podcasts, social networks and online video to the list of preferred means of communication. This is why recruiting Gen Y is morphing into using these new forms of media.
Companies are going to have to start using these outlets to communicate and engage their prospective job candidates. This is precisely why I started Jobs in Pods.
