Finding Professional Associations when Job Hunting or Sourcing

For both job seekers and recruiters, Professional Associations represent opportunity.

Opportunity to network with peers, better your knowledge and become part of your industry are just a few of the perks.

For recruiters they are an under-utilized method for finding qualifed, targeted professionals.

I mentioned a few ways of locating associations (there are 86,000 of them) in the past but here are some other tactical tips for locating the ones in your field.

1. Do a Google search for the "job title" and the word "association"

3. Visit the association for associations...ASAE > People & Groups > Directories

How about joining the association before you are a "job hunter" (at least, an unemployed job hunter)? Doesn't it make sense to... Dig Your Well Before Your Thirsty?

I've heard a lot of comments in the last few months about networking events that are filled with unemployed people... I know these associations are filled with employed folks, which is great. But it makes sense to begin to develop "intimate relationships" before you need them.
