According to a recent survey, nearly 15 percent of hiring managers would dismiss a candidate who doesn't send a thank-you letter. Managers prefer to receive a note of thanks via email and expect to have it in-hand two days after the interview. Sending a specific, well-written and prompt response is very beneficial to job candidates as it reinforces their enthusiasm for the position.
Remember to send your thank you emails/letters within 24 hours. A hand written note will go a long way and mentioning something about the interview that adds value to your candidacy is always a good idea.
Writing a thank you note wont get you the job, but it can eliminate you. Read Heather Hamilton's post for more tips.
