Dressing Up Your Text Résumé

After converting your regular résumé to text, dress it up with these formatting tips.

· Break up the big blocks of text into coherent sections.
· Eliminate such things as the page numbers and page headings.
· Indent sections of text from the left margin to draw additional attention to the separate parts of your résumé.
· Use the space bar, NOT the tab key, for indenting text.
· Use the asterisk key (the * symbol) to give the effect of bullets in a section of text. If you have more than one layer of bullets, change the symbol to a dash or plus sign to help differentiate the levels of bulleting.
· Keep the maximum line length to no more than sixty characters per line.
